Born in Bogota Colombia, Santiago has been nominated twice for a Latin Grammy once for his work as a composer and performer with the Colombian band “Sin Ánimo de Lucro”, and the second time as a music arranger for the renowned Argentine artist, Piero. He began his musical training at the age of 6, in the musical theater company Misi Artistic Productions.
Santiago graduated with honors from the Universidad del Bosque with a “Master in Music with an emphasis in Musical Arrangements”, additionally receiving an honorable mention for his thesis named “The Evolution of Jazz and its Application to Colombian Music.”
As a drummer, pianist, singer and songwriter of “Sin Ánimo de Lucro “, he has received several awards, among which we can highlight two gold records for sales, two Shock Awards, a Latin Grammy nomination, a nomination in the “40 Principales” Awards in Spain and concerts in more than 40 cities in Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States. The singles “No Dejaré Que Te Vayas” y “Volvemos A Encontrar feat” Bárbara y Gabriela de Kudai” were composed and performed by Santiago.
At his Master Audio Inc. studio, located in Bogota, he works as a producer and music arranger for commercial and solo projects. He has composed brand and advertising music, in and out of Colombia, for companies such as Toyota, MTV Latin America, Coca-Cola, Coldeportes, Nikken, Telethon Colombia, Bogota City Hall, Fedco, etc. He’s also the composer of the opening song for Colombia’s next top model as well as the composer and singer of the song ‘Por El Amor’ from Coca-Cola and NatGeo’s documentary ‘Viviendo Positivamente’.
As a drummer Santiago has participated in several projects with artists such as Fonseca and Sebastian Yepes. He has also performed in the musicals Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Greatest Story Ever Sung, which was the first Colombian musical ever presented in Broadway and received multiple ACE Award nominations in New York. He is currently sponsored by the prestigious PAISTE Company.
Besides being the composer of the ‘Teletón Colmbia 2014’ anthem, his song “Caminando” was recently chosen to be performed at the final show of Idol Puerto Rico and his editor credits for ‘Rosario’ got him a Latin Grammy Award nomination in 2014 in the category of ‘Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album’.
